Phuket

Phuket is Thailand's largest island, lying just of the South Western Thai coast in the Andaman Sea. It's been a popular holiday destination since the early 1980s and Phuket's whole economy now relies on the tourism trade with many Thai people traveling to work there from elsewhere in Thailand in the many hotels, resorts, restaurants and bars that bring in so much Phuket's income. The Asian Tsunami affected the economy of Phuket greatly but it was an area quickly rebuilt and much to the credit of the Thai people and foreign volunteers there Phuket is now back up and running looking forward to better times after the tragedy.

It still is everything that made Phuket such a great destination in the first place, crystal blue seas, gently swaying palm trees and balmy nights complemented by the friendly Thai service to make it a unique destination for a relaxing tropical holiday in Phuket. For a more active holiday Phuket does not disappoint with world class scuba diving of the nearby island of Koh Phi Phi, sea fishing, a host of water sports, and a great selection of places to visit, waterfalls, temples, parks amongst them.

Phuket's not just a place for lying on the beach all day and retiring to bed early, Phuket nightlife entertainment with an exciting selection of bars and restaurants. Phuket is a little more expensive than Koh Samui of other islands in Thailand for holiday makers though still cheap being Thailand, and the facilities reflect this extra expense with 5 star hotels and resorts set in acres of lush tropical landscaped gardens, world class Phuket spa and massage centres and golf course designed by many of Golf's top players. Phuket lost a lot of tourism due to the Asian Tsunami, so please support Phuket tourism this year by visiting this little piece of Thai paradise for yourself.
